Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026 (Meta Pixel added)

This is how North Lakes What’s On looks after your details. Short version: we only collect what we need, we never sell it, and you can leave any time.

Who we are

North Lakes What’s On is run by Ash Webb, a sole trader (ABN [ABN]), based in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland. When this page says “we” or “us”, it means Ash.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
  • Prize draws: your name, email address, suburb or postcode, the category of local business you’d spend the prize at, and, if you choose to tell us, your favourite local business.
  • Email activity: our emails tell us whether they were opened and which links were clicked. This helps us send better emails.
  • Website basics: like most websites, ours keeps standard server logs and uses a few small files (cookies) to work properly and load fast.
  • Ads: we use the Meta Pixel (from the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It tells Meta when someone visits our site or signs up, so we can see which of our ads work. Meta handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Why we collect it

  • To send you the weekly email you asked for.
  • To run prize draws, contact winners and arrange the prize.
  • To work out which local businesses our readers care about, so we can bring them into the newsletter.

Who sees it

  • We never sell or rent your details.
  • Local businesses only ever see totals, like “10 readers said they’d spend the prize at a hairdresser”. Never names or email addresses.
  • Prize winners: if you win, we give your name to the business where you spend the prize so you can redeem it. We only name winners publicly if you say yes.
  • Meta receives website visit and sign-up information through the Meta Pixel, as described above. Never your email address.
  • Service providers help us run things: website hosting (Hostinger), our email system and the tools that connect our forms to it. They only use your details to provide that service to us.

Where it’s stored

Our website and email systems run on servers that may be outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that keep data secure.
